• ๐Ÿ“ท April 2024 Micro.Blog photo challenge, Day 7: Well-Being

Two drinks on napkins overlook a dense cityscape from a high vantage point. Text: 'lostinhaste.com'

Drinking isn’t exactly great for the body but it is good for the well-being of the soul, especially when said drinks are 95 floors above the city and you’re on vacation. ๐Ÿธ๐Ÿ™๏ธ #mbapr

  • ๐Ÿ“ท April 2024 Micro.Blog photo challenge, Day 6: Windy

A frozen river flows through a cityscape against a backdrop of mountains under a clear blue sky. Text: lostinhaste.com.

Another view of the Terrasse Dufferin, as it was windy, snow was blowing everywhere…even across the water. ๐Ÿ’จ๐Ÿฅถ #mbapr

  • Finished reading: Unexpected Healer by Jonathan Brooks ๐Ÿ“š
    โ˜…โ˜…โ˜†โ˜†โ˜†

This one randomly showed up as a suggested read on my Kindle and I decided to give it a shot. It was pretty one dimensional but highly entertaining…and it set the stage for an interesting series (if the author continues, of course).

A man generates a glowing blue light between his hands, seated in a cave-like setting with a lit torch and treasure chest. The text reads: 'UNEXPECTED HEALER - A FANTASY LitRPG ISEKAI ADVENTURE - EARTHEN CONTENDERS BOOK 1 - JONATHAN BROOKS'.
  • ๐Ÿ“ท April 2024 Micro.Blog photo challenge, Day 5: Serene

Sunset over choppy water with clouds partly obscuring the sun and darkening the skyline; the text reads 'lostininhaste.com.'

There is nothing quite so serene as the sun setting on the beach / ocean. ๐Ÿš๐ŸŒฅ๏ธ๐Ÿ˜Ž #mbapr

  • What’s a caffeine addict to do when there isn’t any coffee in the house? They walk to the local ice cream parlor and get breakfast before the workday starts. ๐Ÿคฃ โ˜•๏ธ๐Ÿณ๐Ÿฅฏ ๐Ÿ“ท

A hand holds a foil-wrapped egg bagel sandwich and an iced coffee against a blurred asphalt background. The text lostinhaste.com' is superimposed at the bottom.
  • ๐Ÿ“ท April 2024 Micro.Blog photo challenge, Day 4: Foliage

A brown rabbit sits in green grass near lush bushes under sunlight, with the text 'lostinhaste.com' overlaid at the bottom right.

Cute little baby bunny, attempting to blend in with the foliage, eyeing the unripened raspberries in the backyard. ๐Ÿ‡๐Ÿชด๐ŸŒฑ #mbapr

  • ๐Ÿ”— Man pleads guilty to stealing former coworkerโ€™s identity for 30 years | Ars Technica

Victim was jailed for 428 days after LA cops failed to detect true identity.

This is one of my biggest fears in lifeโ€ฆ ๐Ÿ˜ฑ

  • ๐Ÿ“ท April 2024 Micro.Blog photo challenge, Day 3: Card

Playing cards are displayed on a wooden table, part of a card game setup with text on them to be combined humorously. Text on cards: 'Incest', 'Nickelback', 'A sweaty, panting leather daddy', 'Tom Cruise', 'A cunning stunt', 'Pamela Andersons boobs running in slow motion', 'A Hungry-Manยฎ Frozen Christmas Dinner for One', 'The Star Wars Holiday Special', 'And the Academy Award for _____ goes to _____ (Black card)', 'PICK 2 (on the black card)'. The image has a 'lostinhaste.com' watermark.

I’m pretty sure I’m going to offend someone with this but who doesn’t enjoy a game of Cards Against Humanity? ๐Ÿคญ It’s always more fun when it’s your turn to play the black card and judge the responses. ๐Ÿ˜‚ ๐Ÿ‚  #mbapr

  • ๐Ÿ“ท April 2024 Micro.Blog photo challenge, Day 2: Flowers

White bell-shaped flowers (lily of the valley) hanging from a curved stem amid broad green leaves; a white wall in the background.

Lily of the Valley has always been my favorite flower. Some of my earliest memories are of me and Grandma, picking them on a shady hill at her old house. My Partner planted a ton of them in the backyard a few years ago. ๐Ÿ˜Š๐ŸŒผ #mbapr

  • Just realized I missed day one of the “April 2024 Micro.Blog photo challenge” ๐Ÿ˜ญ

  • ๐Ÿ“ท April 2024 Micro.Blog photo challenge, Day 1: Toy

A small dog rests beside a cinched plush toy resembling a log, in a room with a record collection.

Russell was never all that fond of them but he would occasionally get a toy; he absolutely destroyed the squirrels inside the log. ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿถ #mbapr

Note: This post was backdated, as I missed the first day.

  • Finished reading: The Gorgon Incident and Other Stories by John Bierce ๐Ÿ“š
    โ˜…โ˜…โ˜…โ˜†โ˜†

Having finished the Mage Errant series last year, it was rather nice to go back to the same world / universe, to revisit and reminisce.

An orange octopus-like creature emerges amidst ruins and water, tentacles grasping floating swords. Cover for 'THE GORGON INCIDENT AND OTHER STORIES: A MAGE ERRANT ANTHOLOGY' by John Bierce.
  • Working on my taxes this afternoon and wanted to double-check there were no documents for an old retirement account. It’s nice to know some things never change: Empower Retirement is still an awful company with awful tech. ๐Ÿคฃ

A web page with unfinished code snippets and a logo reading 'EMPOWER YOUR RETIREMENT PLAN,' labeled '(1 of 4).'
  • Is it just me or is advertising in podcasts just getting…awful? I just listened to five minutes of “sales stuff” and…yuck (it was he same commercial, repeated three times). I’m all for paying for podcasts but some of them, there just isn’t a way to avoid the advertising.

  • ๐Ÿฟ Date Night: we decided to watch a movie neither of us had seen and as we’ve been watching Fawlty Towers lately, we ended up on A Fish Called Wanda. By the end, our sides were hurting from all the laughing; ๐Ÿคฃ this movie is beyond absurd, in all the best possible ways.
