• Thai food with some friends for lunch. ๐Ÿฅข๐Ÿ›

Two spring rolls sit on a detailed blue-and-white patterned plate with some dipping sauce, on a restaurant table. Stir-fried dish on an ornate plate, surrounded by silverware, on a pink tablecloth.
  • My Parter and I went for a walk last night, in the falling snow (it’s a tradition of ours, to go for a walk during the first real snowfall) and had a great time…right until the very end: I hit a patch of ice and went down hard. ๐Ÿค• Woke up today feeling like I’ve been through a clothes press. ๐Ÿ˜‚

  • Playing around with the updated Micro.blog categories, decided to add emoticons, just for fun. Have a bit of an odd bug with repeating categories but the feature did just come out today, so I’m not too worried about it. ๐Ÿคฃ

Tag buttons with emojis and text such as 'animal', 'apple', 'audio' on a webpage titled 'Lost In Haste' under navigation links like 'Books', 'Photos', 'About Me'.
  • Years ago, I set up a self-hosted Gitea, as a backup solution for my Github account. I didn’t think much of it at the time but I used MS SQL as the backend for it, without realizing the Docker version doesn’t work with encrypted Synology volumes. ๐Ÿฅด I finally took care of that, now on MySQL. ๐ŸŽ‰

  • I had a craving earlier today and yea, it isnโ€™t healthy at all but as itโ€™s 10ยฐF, so eating bad food doesnโ€™t count. ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿฅถ

A slice of cheese pizza rests on a blue-and-white patterned plate, with a granular topping, possibly Parmesan, on a kitchen counter with a calendar in the background.

It would have been better if we went to Chicago but the pizza was still dang tasty! ๐Ÿ•๐Ÿ“ท

  • Layoffs have been hitting the tech sector for a while now and up till yesterday, it’s all been “theory." ๐Ÿ˜” I’m still employed (being a “jack of all trades” software engineer has it’s perks) but a we all found out “the number” of employees who’ve been let go in the past two weeks last night. ๐Ÿ˜ฎโ€๐Ÿ’จ

  • I was listening to Pivot (one of my favorite podcasts) over my lunch and there was an exchange between the two hosts that’s stuck with me, enough that I’m actually posting about it. ๐Ÿ˜… I think they’re both right, we need new words for masculine / feminine. ๐Ÿณ๏ธโ€๐ŸŒˆ๐Ÿณ๏ธโ€โšง๏ธ

    Totally worth a listen. ๐ŸŽค๐ŸŽ™๏ธ๐Ÿ”ˆ

  • ๐Ÿฟ Date Night: Greek food and Sleepless in Seattle. It was my first time seeing it and yes, I would totally watch it again.
    โ˜…โ˜…โ˜…โ˜†โ˜†

Movie poster for Sleepless in Seattle (1993): A man and a woman stand apart against a backdrop of day and night city landscapes, symbolizing emotional distance. The text reads: 'TOM HANKS MEG RYAN. What if someone you never met, someone you never saw, someone you never knew was the only someone for you? SLEEPLESS IN SEATTLE. • โ˜•๏ธ Wow, just realized I made some coffee at 10:00 this morning but never drank it; it’s been a busy day at work. ๐Ÿคฃ

  • Kinda amazed and dismayed at Nintendo right now: lately, every time I try to sign into their store to buy a game, the login process crashes / fails. Do they not want my money…?! ๐ŸŽฎ

Various Nintendo gaming consoles and handhelds, displayed against a white background, showcasing the evolution of video game systems.
  • We normally take down Christmas on January 6th (growing up, we’d leave Christmas up until Epiphany) but given the craziness of last weekend (trip to the theater, an engagement party, chores, & migraines), we just didn’t get to it…so tonight is it, say farewell to the Home Alone house. ๐ŸŽ„๐Ÿ“ท

A miniature house (the Home Alone house, in Lego form), filled with lights, and van on a snowy landscape, surrounded by trees, with the website address 'lostinhaste.com' displayed as a watermark.
  • Just used an Apple Shortcut created by @jarrod to use OpenIA to generate image descriptions for alt text. ๐Ÿ˜ Very cool and will be using it on conjunction with another Shortcut (for Micro.blog uploading) in the future. I keep forgetting I can use Shortcuts for scripting instead of C#. ๐Ÿคฃ

  • Finished reading: Path of Stars by David North ๐Ÿ“š
    โ˜…โ˜…โ˜…โ˜†โ˜†

My least favorite of the series since book one, I finished this last night. The one places more emphasis on the main character, which is good but abandons almost all the other ones. It’s also a bit…meandering. Still, excited for the next one.

A book cover displays 'PATH OF STARS' in large letters with the author's name 'David North' below. Three moons, a compass rose, and celestial elements set against a starry sky above classical columns.
  • Snowfall and a Show

Over the weekend, my Partner and I were offered tickets to see Mrs. Doubtfire at the local theater. ๐ŸŽญ It was an unexpected treat (our friends had just come back from London and were rather jet-lagged), both the show and the holiday decoration in the theater.๐ŸŽ„ ๐Ÿ“ท It was also the first serious snowfall โ€ฆ read more

  • ๐Ÿฟ In honor of Glynis Johns passing a few days ago, we watched The Court Jester tonight. It was an absolute riot, a musical comedy that spoofs elements of Robin Hood and had us laughing the entire time.
