Well its a little later this year, my mandatory post about snow. Not only is the tardiness disappointing but it came at a most inopportune time. You see, it all started a couple of weeks ago when my van (a ‘91 Privia) finally died. Stuck without a car, I was doomed to walk down to the metrolink station from my house, a mile there and a mile back.
Being that I’m very, very lazy…and as it was getting colder, I decided it was finally time to purchase my first car. To make a very long story short (which involved an f**ked up car dealership in Balwin), I ended up purchasing a Hyundai. The catch was it happened to be a manual transmission.
You’d first say Jon, you don’t know how to drive a manual and I’d reply with why yes, you’ve absolutely right! I’d driven a manual exactly three times before I bought this car. However, to save nine hundred dollars, I was more than willing to learn.
Fast forward to today. Oh, look at the pretty snow was the first thought in my head…shortly followed by $hit, I have to drive in this. As it turned out, it wasn’t so bad. I only had a problem once when a jack-a$$ came behind me too close when I was on a hill and I started slipping a bit.
All in all, it wasn’t bad but I’ll be very happy next year when I have no qualms about the first snow fall.
