Thanksgiving

There was no yelling. No dishes where thrown, no one cried. I wasn’t even criticized for my lifestyle choice (actually, it was talked about but in a rather rational way)… All in all, it didn’t seem like Thanksgiving at all…and it was kinda disappointing.
I had planned on getting to my parent’s house early enough to do some laundry before the rest of the family got there but of course I over slept. Fortunately, my brother called to see if he could barrow the fifth and sixth Harry Potter books. I rushed to get ready and grab my laundry only to get a call from my uncle asking me where the hell I was.
I finally showed up an hour and a half late to the sight of almost all my cousins sitting together in my mother’s new living room. Of course all the cheese dip was gone (I really love that stuff, its full of cheesy, spicy goodness) along with the rest of the nibbles. On the other hand, it did give me a chance to hang out with my cousins.
All in all, it was actually fun. My cousins and I got along. My aunts and uncles and I got along. The food was amazing, as was the desert. The drinks could have been better (there was beer and margaritas, but my parents didn’t have vodka, so no martinis) but in the end I didn’t really care. Odd, I know for me not to care about the alcohol.
