I realize it’s been a while since I posted…and you can blame my boss for that! I certainly do!Â
I’ve been so busy @ work that I haven’t really had much time to even breath, much less sleep so if none of this makes sense…oh well… Just blame Hans!
This weekend (and yesterday) are now a complete blur. In the past four days I ended up working almost forty-two hours! Isn’t that completely screwed up?!?! The irony of the whole thing is that I could have cleaned up what Creative gave me and shoved it out as a pure XHTML website in (of course, this is a complete estimate and time tables never really work they way they should) roughly four/five hours! But No! I had to make it work with Atlas!
For those of you who don’t actually work with me, Atlas…well, I can’t say I really understand it either… Just think of it as a way of getting data, slapping it on a web page, and tracking the person browsing said website. Keep in mind that is a completely simplified version of the ghastly system… Unfortunately, it is now mostly my problem as I was hired to keep it running and adding updates while Marc (who was previously beating it into submission) designs a new system.
Somehow all of the updates where created and shoved into the massive nightmare. If Marc hadn’t helped me out and worked his a$$ off figuring out form submission, I would have been so very screwed. Somehow we got everything to work but I think Atlas may have taken my soul in the process…
In retrospect (and the nightmare isn’t yet over because I still have to make changes before I shove the updates into Live), Kelly was right. This was baptism by fire…
P.S. – I wrote this when I got in to the office today. However, you’ll notice that the timestamps doesn’t reflect that. I was so busy and it was so crazy I didn’t even have time to hit the publish button!
P.S.S. – I finally woke up from my nap to hit the submit button and I didn’t have any cat nightmares!
P.S.S.S. – For those of you who haven’t heard, I’ve been having nightmares involving cats since last Friday (at least) night.
Meow.
