.NET Bipolar
Mar 2nd, 2007 at 2:40 pm by Jon
I had a rather interesting experience at work today. During the course of my time at Vandover, I’ve yelled and screamed at my computer quite a bit. (On a side note, so do the other two developers) In fact, I recently ran across a quote saying “Profanity is the one language all computer programmers understand“. Well, I certainty agree with that statement.
Back to the heart of the matter, today I said rather loud that “I hate .NET!” This was slightly hypocritical because yesterday I said I loved .NET. Chris found this slightly funny and told me I was .NET bipolar. So, if you’re looking for an explanation as to why I’m .NET bipolar, its rather easy to get across: when it works I like it but when .NET doesn’t, I despise it.
I know I’ve ranted a bit (or a lot…) about working at this place, but I think I’ll miss it. The people here are so very nice that I kinda feel bad about leaving them high-and-dry. The project I’m helping with (Merlin) was supposed to be deployed by April 2nd and there is no way it is going to happen. My leaving is going to screw them over even more… But as so many people have said, “you need to look out for yourself Jon.” Well, this new job will be a better fit (As I mentioned before, I enjoyed the interview, so I’m sure I’ll enjoy working there) and better money! And, of course, more opportunity to learn and grow as a developer!
Peace Out!
P.S. - During the writing of this post, I noticed that my blog has been visited by my soon-to-be boss and another employee from Infuze. I find that to be both funny and scary… Funny because my blog was actually found by people I know (or will know) and scary because…well, you figure that one out! ![]()
Scary because I’ve already found out that you’re a… cyclist? Your secret is out, pal; you’ve got no excuse when I’m recruiting for the MS 150 team in spring.
