I love Winter. I love the drop in temperature. I love the clean crips smell in the air. I love the snow and blizzards. I love the scarves which make their annual appearance (yes, my inner-gayness does occasionally make an appearance). All in all, Winter is a wonderful time of the year.
But Ice…oh, don’t get me started on ice today… Ice has always been good to me. We’ve never had any problems before. I’ve skied and skated on it with no problems. I’ve even walked on it and aside from some minor issues, we’ve gotten along great. We’ve had some good times…which is why I’ve been completely stunned with this betrayal.
This year ice has stabbed me in the back! Not only did it cover my entire van in it’s wintery grip and forced me to chip at the doors of my car so I enter, but it made me fall…TWICE! Oh, I’ll give it the first fall, as it was completely my fault. The ice-covered walkway was a given and if I hadn’t been in such a rush to get to work early, I would have realized it. My knee and a$$ are aching for it, but that’s just how the cookie crumbles. But the second time! Oh Ice, you’ve betrayed me!
Just when I thought I was safe, right as I was about to enter the building, Ice struck. It decided to be tricky and blend in completely with the cement and strike at unsuspecting pedestrians. If not for the unconscious response of my hand, I would have fallen completely on my face…
Oh, it could have been worse… I could have gotten in a car accident on my way to work. As odd as that sounds, it would have been less a betrayal…
