Hazy Shade Of Summer

I truly love getting up early in the morning. I really do (ignore the laugher comming from my friends). The only problem is that it rarely happens. Nine times out of ten, when I plan on getting up early, it just doesn’t happen. So I’m thankfully when I plan something early enough I’m forced to get up on time.
Today was such an occasion. Shannon and I had planned on taking our new bikes (well, she’s had her’s for a week and I finally took mine home yesterday) for a quick spin around Forest Park. So I woke up at the crack of dawn and headed to I40.
It was an absolutely beautiful morring! The birds where chirping and some cute little bunny rabbits were sitting in the yard as I walked out the door. As I was crossing the river, it got a little hazy. Not too much but just enough to set off the sunlight as it hit the water when I was crossing the River.
After some minor delays (such as trying to clip into my bike without killing and dogging the traffic on Skinnker (not sure if I spelled that right but I’m too lazy to google it), we finally made it to the park. We hit the hill and we we’re gone in a flash! I’d been on the same hill a few weeks ago with Hans and Ryan with my mountain bike and it was fun (by the by, I love going insanely fast which might have something to due with my love of snow skiing) but today was incredible! I’ve never gone so fast on a bike before!Granted I almost collided with…everything…but it was so amazing!
We ended up doing about 15 miles by the end of ride (after stopping at a coffee place) and all I can say is thank god for biking shorts! I know I’ve said so many times I’d rather be dead than caught in public wearing spandex…so I guess I’m dead. ;) Seriously, I would have been dead without those shorts! A big thank you goes out to Ryan for suggesting to get the spandex.
If it hadn’t been hotter than the fires of hell, it would have been the perfect morning…
Glad to hear the bike and shorts are working out well, and look forward to dragging you guys into Riverfront Trail rides!
And I’m sure you’re dashing in your new shorts.
