Freshmen Fifty…

Sitting here during my lunch break (taking a break from the SQL statement from HELL that will be the death of me yet), I’ve actually been giving the past few days some thought (which is usually a rarity for me) and have stumbled across some rather interesting revelations. First, the trying to lose the freshmen fifteen (or in my case, the freshmen fifty) is rather hard, especially four years after you put on all the weight. Two, bike riding is much easier on the body than running when one is still suffering from the effects of college. Finally, Abba makes great work-out music!
The past two weeks, I’ve been attempting to stick to a regiment of diet and exercise. In typical Jon fashion, there’s some good news and some bad news. The good news: I’ve been working out; the bad news: my diet has been failing…miserably… But that’s a story for another time. Last week, I went running a few times and rode my bike and it worked out rather well. However, this week my body decided to betray me! I went running on Monday and I felt like someone had injected molten iron into my legs! I could barely get up the stairs to fall into bed. So yesterday I went riding on the Katie Trail on my way home from work and had an awesome time! Sure my legs hurt, as did my a$$ (from the seat, get your mind out of the gutter!), but at least I could walk afterwards!
This of course leads me into my final statement: Abba. I was putting a bunch of music on my my iPod, and stumbled across them. I just love their most famous song, Dancing Queen (I first heard it in Miss Congeniality), so on a lark I included their Greatest Hits CD. Somehow my iPod played two of their songs back-to-back during snuffle mode and I was presently surprised. Naturally (there’s that word again), I pulled up their name on the Author playlist and the rest is history!
This makes two bands/groups that my mother listened to and I now like… Kinda weird…
