First Impressions

This will have to be quick. I’ve been sleeping since twoish and my body is protesting being out of bed. I’ll start at the beginning for those of you who have no idea what I’m talking about.
Today was my first day @ Infuze. Naturally, I was almost late (I didn’t count on the mass stupidity of drivers on I70). Got there, got settled in, and started setting up my computer the way I like it. Everything was going great until I felt the sudden urge to vomit.I made a mad dash for the bathroom and saw everything I’d eaten in the past few days. The sad thing is that I knew this would happen.
I got up and after my shower, I ate some cheerios. Right after, I started feeling queasy. So I took some tums and felt fine. Well, on the way to work, I felt the feeling return. My mom had thought that maybe I was just nervous about the new job. The problem with that is that I only start feeling nervous for interviews and new jobs at about ten minutes before I’m supposed to be there…
So after washing my mouth out as well as I could (this makes me think I should take some toothpaste with me to work), I got back to my desk and immediately had a bangle. Bad Idea! About ten minutes after that, the boss took me, Steve (who I share my sort-of-cube with, and the developer whom I’ll be working under for a while (I warned everyone I met today that I am horrible with names) to Star Bucks and got us drinks.
EVEN WORSE IDEA!
What was I thinking?! So, about an hour later, everyone went to lunch, but knowing food wouldn’t be a good idea, I didn’t. Twenty minutes later, I had a repeat episode. FYI, half digested bangles are disgusting…it’ll be a while before I can look at one again, much less eat it.
At about 1 o’clock, I threw in the towel. I could barely think straight anymore and was slowly falling asleep (which made the drive home rather interesting), so I talked to the developer (I really need to remember his name) I’m under (who told me to go home and get better), left a sticky note on the boss’s desk, and drove home.
I’ve been sleeping ever since and I still feel like $hit…
What a great first impression I made…Â Havening to go home sick on my first day…that’s got to be a first…
