Drive, Damn You!

Today I was reminded of a Murphy Brown (one of my favorite shows of all time) episode from the first season. During the course of the episode, the entire cast was taken hostage by a man with a gun who wanted Murphy to read a statement during the news broadcast. At first she refused, but eventually gave in and read. The statement was addressed to those people who drive slow in the left lane and how we (as in the American people) wouldn’t stand for it anymore.
I felt like taking a hostage today! The sad fact of the matter is that I probably could have caught up with the guy on my bike! Yes, thats how slow the joker was going on I70! …I think the traffic gods have decreed that everyone do their best to make me late for work…
So, I’ve compiled a short list of rules for those of us who drive to St. Louis every morning:
- Do Not drive slow in the left-most lane
- If you are a semi, please try to stay out of the left-most lane when going up a hill; you slow all of us down
- Just because there is water on the ground or a light mist is falling, that is no excuse driving ten miles an hour less than the speed limit
- The speed limit is relative so if you’re in the left-most lane, don’t take it seriously
- If you break ANY of these rules, you’d better watch out for me
