Lazy Graduation

Well, I finally graduated…and it doesn’t feel as good as I thought it would… The main speaker at the Commencement kept going on and on about how big a deal it was to graduate from college and how few people actually made it this far and while he was talking, I just kept thinking ‘wow, this really isn’t that big a deal.’ On my way driving back home (after eating way too much pizza at a graduation dinner) I stumbled upon the answer.
I didn’t try. That’s all there is too it… I really didn’t try hard enough with classes. I’ve never really tried hard enough, at anything. I didn’t try hard enough in high school. I didn’t try hard enough at swimming. I didn’t try hard enough with boy scouts. I suppose that is the story of my life though…
I have no idea why I do it or how it started. But it ends here and now. So, as I sit here thinking about my New Year party, I have come up with my New Years resolution: I’m going to stop giving up on stuff so easily. Yea, I know what your thinking, ‘who really follows through with their resolutions anyway?!’ Well, you’re probably right, but if I don’t follow though with this one, then I’ve already failed!
Anyway, I’ve got to get to sleep since we’re driving down to Jamestown tomorrow (I’m stuck with my family in Virginia at Williamsburg for Christmas), so I’ve got to be leaving. Happy Holidays everyone! ![]()
